Jonathan gives talks and lectures
Talks coming up
-
If you live locally, you could come to one of our 3 hour introductory sessions:
- Cupping (November 16th 2024)
- Food Energy (Dec 14th 2024)
- the Five Elements (January 18th 2025),
- The Chinese Clock (February 22nd 2025)
- Meaning of Blood (March 22nd 2025).
These talks would give you an introduction to Chinese medicine and how you can benefit from it, in your home.
For example with Cupping – an ancient skill handed down through the generations and now making rather a comeback with celebrities – but anyone can learn to use it!
Training and Experience
Jonathan trained in acupuncture and Chinese medicine in 1970s, and attended a number of colleges in these subjects and in homoeopathy, nutrition, shiatsu and bioenergetics, gaining qualifications in each.
He worked in London alongside Dr Ac Mary Austin for several years, seeing a huge range of patients from all backgrounds.
In 1982 he spent 6 months in People’s Republic of China mostly in Nanjing gaining experience in treating patients in hospital.
On returning he set up the Edinburgh Natural Health Centre in Edinburgh’s West End, just behind Charlotte Square. Eventually he moved out of Edinburgh to a village in East Lothian, Ormiston, where he now lives and works.
For many years he lectured at various colleges of homoeopathy in Glasgow and Edinburgh, such as the Scottish College of Homoeopathy where he taught Chinese medicine, homoeopathic philosophy, materia medica and supervised students in clinic.
For three years from 2003, third and fourth year medical students (training to become Doctors) from the Edinburgh Faculty of Medicine sat in with him to observe how ‘natural’ medicine helps patients who have not found what they need from the National Health Service. Quite a few such students said they would like to learn more about how these alternative medicines worked after they completed their courses.
He has treated many thousands of patients and their families.

Starting in 2010 he began www.acupuncture-points.org which now attracts many thousands of readers annually.
On and for that site he has also recorded many youtube videos, simplyfying topics explained in greater detail on the pages themselves.
